The current state of the game
« on: October 06, 2015, 01:58:17 PM »
Hey guys, here you will find the information on the progress in development of Layers of Fear.

The ending is still not implemented and the game thanks the player for participation in the Xbox Preview program/ Steam Early Access after visiting one of the key rooms in the game. The game in its current state can be finished in approximately two to three hours of gameplay (depending on the player's will to explore the environment).

A big part of the plot has been removed to avoid future spoilers, however it is also a great opportunity to see unique content that expands the main storyline, which will later undergo changes, or will be removed from the game entirely. The core of the story will be left intact.

With the upcoming updates new content will be introduced with additional rooms, gameplay mechanics and side plot stories. The full storyline will be introduced during the official launch of the game. For more information on each update please refer to the Patch Log Thread which can be found in the corresponding sections of this forum.

Hey guys,

The Halloween update is live right now. Sorry for the delay.
Here are the patch notes:
- A new room connected to Halloween has been added. You can enter it from the basement in the first level of the game (the complete house). It will be an exclusive content that will last only for a month (until November 28th). You can discover a gruesome Halloween story about curious children and 48 unique effects by typing words into the spirit board (type 'end' to leave the event's room).
- Chapter select added - Now you can replay each finished chapter of the game without loosing your current progress.
- Minor bug fixes and tweaks to the levels

In the nearest future we will be adding Polish, Italian and French translations. A little later we will add German and Brazilian-Portuguese.

We are still working on optimizing the frame rate, we are also taking a look at all the bugs you have discovered and working to resolve them.
Thanks for supporting us!

Hey guys! We're close to releasing a new update patch - more details on it shortly.

What I want to stress out here is that you will loose your save files once it goes live! We had to remodel the saving system a bit. Sorry for this inconveniance!

Hey guys!
The Goya patch has been deployed on the Xbox One. You can read the changelog below:

  • A patch log pop-up screen that you can see after launching the game has been implemented.
  • We have redesigned the save system. Unfortunately it required a save file wipe to work, sorry for that.
  • We have added new rooms and remodelled some of the old ones, nearing up to almost 20 completely new room experiences you can encounter. Those rooms should now work as a breather and slow down the pacing of the game a bit.
The new rooms have been added in between the already present ones. The new content that will come up after the Office will be implemented for the game?s full launch.
  • New findable objects have been added, as well as some of the older ones have been redesigned.
  • Game Menu fixes ? minor aesthetic and graphical adjustments; Navigation problems while using a game pad have now been fixed.
  • Fixed the issue when inverting axis? made opening object illogical (you had to push, to actually pull, etc.)

We know that our biggest issue right now is the frame right. We are rapidly closing to finishing the content to the game, and soon we will focus all our attention to stabilizing and improving the frame rate count. Please bear with us a little longer while we bring you possibly one of the best horror games on Xbox :)

A little late to the forum with the info, sorry about that. It's been one hell of a week.
We have disclosed the final release date for Layers of Fear which is due February 16th 2016!
To make it happen we have teamed-up with the great folks at Aspyr Media.
The game is heavily redesigned - you will be able to find new stuff, some rooms have been redesigned, others have been moved to other parts of the game, and finaly new ones have been introduced. More info on the changes will be announced closer to release.

For now enjoy the new trailer:
